Agriculture

Farming was undeniably difficult in the the early years. Farmers had to deal with early
frost, drought, and the tough thick sod that covered the landscape. Yet with perseverance
and new varieties of seed introduced in the 1890's farming became a viable business for
many of the region's early settlers.

Regina was well situated in its location to the railway, and the handiwork of the Regina
Board of Trade in opening branch lines throughout Saskatchewan helped the city become
the centre of trade and commerce for much of the Province's agriculture industry.
