The tools and equipment recovered from the Machault were, of the most part, a variety of wooden ones still in excellent condition. Most of the iron parts that laid at the bottom of the Restigouche River for two centuries were decomposed due to erosion, leaving only the wooden handles. picture of wooden handles

The tools found on the wreck ranged from splitting wedges to axes and saws for rough woodworking. Shaping tools such as carpenter's drawknives, turning chisels, drills, hammers and a ruler/bevel were also brought up during the excavation.
