Hazelton District Public Library
Rodeo Photography Contest Winners

Considering the fact that there were hundreds of photos to look through, and that none of the Project staff agreed on anything concerning a winner, we decided to pick one each. These pictures reflect what each of us felt was a key moment, or important instance relating to the Kispiox Valley Rodeo, the biggest little rodeo in the west.

High Jumping Horse - Stephen Leary

This horse seems to think being a bird would be more rewarding. Regardless, this animal's love of being airborne has paid off with this amazing photograph. Simon is this horse's name, one sure to be recognized by Kispiox Valley Rodeo regulars.

Thanks to Stephen Leary for donating this, and many other fantastic photographs.

All Tuckered Out - The Veltmeyer Family

To all the little britches that try so hard, let them have sweet rodeo dreams of contests won and trophies claimed. Ride on little cowboy!

Thanks for this submission from the Veltmeyer Family.

Little Bronc - Richard Browne

Not all the animals at the KVR are bucking broncs, at least, not yet. But this fellow is watching, and if he watches enough, some day he may have what it takes to make a good bucking horse, that is, the ability to make a cowboy eat dirt.

Thanks to Richard Browne for this submission.
