Learning outcomes: demonstrate the ability to use a variety of strategies for locating information in print and non print resources.

Ask students to find information about rodeos.
Electronic sources may be searched by use of search engines, collection sites such as the BC Heritage Trust collection, "intuitive" use of URLs etc. The Biggest Little Rodeo in the West website not only contains information itself, it has links to other websites as well. Communities that host rodeos will find the local newspaper a good source for print material near rodeo time.

Adjust reading and viewing according to purpose, content, and context. Interpret details in and draw conclusions from information in a variety of sources.
Demonstrate a willingness to reassess their understanding of a topic on the basis of responses from others and new ideas.

This website can be used as recreational reading for people who are interested in the rodeo, or as a starting point for debate on issues such as the appropriateness of the use of animals in rodeos. While providing a detailed descriptions of many rodeo events, the site also reflects the respect that competitors have for the animal athletes.

The information in the website was provided primarily by the Kispiox Valley Rodeo Club. Ask students to identify elements which may show bias.
