For Secondary History and Social Studies (Grade 11 and 12):

Learning outcomes: Identify indicators of cultural diversity in print and non-print media.

Identify elements that contribute to the regional, cultural and ethnic diversity of the Canadian society.

Describe the role of Canada's First Nations peoples in shaping Canadian identity.
Explain how perspectives and biases are reflected in print an non-print media.
Have students examine the website pages relating to the history of the Kispiox Rodeo, the pioneers, and the memorial trophies (e.g. James McRae). The Kispiox Rodeo was founded by both native and non-native residents of the Hazelton area. Such diversity is reflected more in the visual images than in the verbal content of the pages.
