- use various resources to identify perspectives and points of view during discussion.

- respect and appreciate the history of First Nations and Metis people.

3.PURPOSE/TEACHER BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

    The purpose of this lesson is to make students aware of the people involved and their role in the Northwest Rebellion/Resistance.  The students will gain an understanding of what the situation First Nation and Metis people experienced during this era.

4. ACTIVITIES/IDEAS:

    Students will research on the internet and read through the biography of Gabriel Dumont.   Discuss the worksheet with the students and see if there are any questions.   Have the students answer the questions.  If you would like, have the students work in pairs of two to answer the questions.
