dwelling's, a description of each of the dwelling's, maps and a First Nation Plains resource book.

3. PURPOSE/TEACHER BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the students' to the different First Nation peoples dwelling's. The dwelling's that are presented throughout the unit are the Pacific Northwest longhouses, the Plains tipi, the Eastern Woodlands longhouse and wigwam and the Northern igloo. It is important to show the students' the different dwelling's as it give them an opportunity to imagine what kind of environment traditional First Nation peoples lived in.
4. ACTIVITIES/IDEAS: Research Project - Give a brief description of each of
the four dwelling's that were traditionally used by First Nation's peoples. The students' should have the choice of completing a brief report on each of the dwelling's or a detailed report of their choice. KWL Chart - This chart should be used at the beginning
and at the end of the unit. While using this chart you can find out the previous knowledge
students' may have on the traditional dwelling's of First Nation peoples.
You can also survey what students' would like to learn among the material or
resources distributed to the students'. Talking Circle - The Talking Circle could be implemented
in each lesson as it allows the students' to view their opinions and talk about the material that
they have learned. It also gives students' the opportunity to share
