TOPIC:  Biographies on factual and fictional role models

TIME FRAME:  2 - 3 classes

3. PURPOSE/TEACHER BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The purpose of this lesson is to introduce factual and fictional role models to the students'. The suggested resources listed above contain biographies of 14 Canadian Heroes.

4. ACTIVITIES/IDEAS:

Before beginning, review with the students' the different role models:

a)  what qualities they possess?
b)  who they are?
c) can they be alive or deceased?  


Explain to the students' they will be investigating five Canadian role models. Each student should  research the website addresses and choose one of the heroes listed under each heading and complete the question sheets.  The following are:
