Cornelius O'Brien

Cornelius O'Brien was born on May 4th, 1843 in the village of New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island. He pursued his studies in Rome and on April 8th, 1871, he was ordained priest. Twelve years later, on January 21st, 1883, he was named the fourth Archbishop of Halifax. At the Collège Sainte-Anne, O'Brien is best remembered for his long and laborious attempts at convincing the Eudist Fathers to come to his diocese. Finally, in 1890, the Eudist Fathers accepted O'Brien invitation.
