At this point in the process, students should have a sense of the evolution of Canadian theatre over time, the different types of theatres that have existed and still exist, an appreciation for Canadian plays and playwrights, an understanding of the different roles required to put together a show, some insight into what's needed in putting on a show and that generally, without a concerted team effort, the theatre doesn't function unless all the elements come together.

Working in teams, students shall choose one of the following:

    1. Design a theatre. Visit a theatre such as the Royal Alexandra or the Princess of Wales and detail all the physical elements required for a large scale theatre. Then the team should design and build a scale model of an original theatre.

    2. Students working in a group will write and perform an original one-act play. Included too are as many technical elements as possible, i.e., sets, costumes, lighting, make-up, sound, props etc.

    3. Students will cast and perform in an existing Canadian play. Include technical elements listed above.
