Health Canada's Laboratory Centre for Disease Control is the national public health agency with expertise in microbiology, epidemiology, and disease prevention and control. LCDC is a division of the federal government department Health Canada, and has a subdivision that is particularly interested in TB called the Division of Tuberculosis Prevention and Control.

The Division of TB Prevention and Control is headed by Dr. Howard Njoo, and has two major committees: The Expert Committee on Tuberculosis (ECOT); and the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Tuberculosis Control Committee (FPTTCC), which consists of the directors of TB control programs in each province.

The LCDC produces a report, "Tuberculosis in Canada", which records all new cases of TB and deaths related to TB reported in Canada each year. You can access this report online through the LCDC website.

You can download the report "Tuberculosis in Canada: 1996" here, in PDF format. (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/main/lcdc/web/publicat/tbcan96/pdf/tbcan96e.pdf)
