Mary
Seymour is a figurative oil painter interested in representing everyday
life. She is
inspired not only by her immediate surroundings in rural Ontario
but also by aspects of city life in Toronto. She combines her love
of portraiture and the figure with contemporary settings to create
dramatic and narrative paintings.
Seymour obtained
her undergraduate degree from the University of Windsor, Ontario
and a Master's Degree from Norwich University, Vermont, U.S.A. (1999)
A member of both the Ontario Society of Artists(1998) and the Society
of Canadian Artists (1999), she has received several awards including
the Lifetime Member's Award, O.S.A.(1998) and Honourable
Mention, Best Painting Award, Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (1998).
She has exhibited in Canada, the United States and Africa.
