 The Honourable Josée Verner


Minister of International Cooperation and Minister for La Francophonie and Official Languages


Louis–Saint-Laurent (Québec)


Josée Verner is a first-time Member of Parliament and was elected to the House of Commons in 2006.


Ms. Verner has spent close to 20 years working in the communications and public service fields. She worked for former Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa and served the Deputy Speaker of Quebec’s National Assembly. As a public servant, she has worked in the Quebec provincial ministry of health.


Ms. Verner was part of Mr. Harper’s shadow Cabinet as Critic for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and La Francophonie. In addition, she is the Chair of the Quebec Conservative caucus.


Ms. Verner is involved in her community and is a fundraiser for the Children’s Make A Wish Foundation of Canada. She is married and the mother of three children.
