Prior to his appointment to the Tax Court of Canada in 1988, Chief Judge Garon practiced taxation law with the Department of Justice in Ottawa; from 1982-86, he was Associate Deputy Minister responsible for tax litigation and the Civil Law Section. For some 27 years, Chief Judge Garon was a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law (Civil Law Section) at the University of Ottawa specializing in the fields of administrative, civil and tax law.
