1. Other than market debt payable in foreign currencies, the foreign exchange accounts and a portion of loans, all liabilities/assets are issued in Canadian dollars.
2. Financial claims held against enterprise Crown Corporations, national governments, international organizations, provincial and territorial governments, portfolio investments and other loans. Assets are recorded at cost and are subject to annual valuation to reflect reductions from their recorded value to the estimated realizeable value.
3. Consists largely of liabilities to government employee pension plans and other accounts representing employee and veteran future benefits, Canada Pension Plan deposits and moneys received for trusts, contracts or specified purposes.
4. Liabilities include accounts payable, accrued liabilities, interest and matured debt, tax refunds payable, and an allowance for guarantees. Current assets include cash, tax receivable and accounts receivable. Non-financial assets include tangible capital assets, inventories and prepaid expenses.
