Loaded revolver, semi-automatic handgun seized at the Lansdowne port of entry

Lansdowne, Ontario, June 5, 2013 — The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that officers at the Lansdowne port of entry (POE) seized a semi-automatic handgun, and a loaded revolver in two separate seizure actions.

On May 16, 2013, William Robert Brundage, a Tennessee resident, arrived at the Lansdowne POE and was referred for a secondary examination where officers found a loaded .357 revolver in his vehicle.

As a result, the CBSA has charged Brundage with failing to report imported goods, making false statements, and smuggling under the Customs Act. He has also been charged with possessing a firearm without a licence or registration certificate, and possessing a loaded restricted firearm without authorization under the Criminal Code. He remains in custody and will appear in a Brockville court on June 5, 2013.

On May 18, 2013, Dustin Reis Hamby of Missouri sought entry to Canada at the Lansdowne POE and was referred for a secondary examination. During the examination, officers found a 7.65 MM caliber, semi-automatic handgun, holster and an empty magazine in a bag.

The CBSA has charged Hamby with making false statements, evading compliance and smuggling under the Customs Act. He has also been charged with the unauthorized importation of a prohibited firearm under the Criminal Code. Hamby has been released on bail and has an upcoming court appearance on June 14, 2013 in Brockville.
