Canada Border Services Agency celebrates the success of its new officer trainees

Ottawa, Ontario, June 17, 2013 — The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) congratulates Andriy Bortnyk (Mississauga, Ontario), Dehrig Richard (Orléans, Ontario), Kia Jacobs (Longueuil and St-Hubert, Quebec), Maxime Anastasio (Outremont, Quebec) and Paul Piscitelli (Niagara Falls, Ontario), who were the top five officer trainees to complete the inaugural Officer Induction Training Program (OITP) at the CBSA College in Rigaud, Quebec.

The OITP incorporates, for the first time, arming certification in its training of new recruits and is designed to develop and assess the broad range of behavioural and technical competencies a border services officer needs to maintain the CBSA's world-class standards.

The CBSA is committed to ensuring the security of Canada's borders. Training provided to our frontline officers is an investment in them and in our communities. The Agency commends its officers for their role in ensuring a safe, secure and efficient border.
