Biometrics

Biometric technology is used to make sure that people coming into the country do not pose a threat or to verify that they are who they say they are.

  • Digital fingerprint machines (at the border)
Capture fingerprints digitally, which allows the CBSA the electronic transmission of higher quality fingerprint data to the RCMP securely and quickly.
  • Iris-scan identification systems (at the border)
Use iris-scan technology at selected airports to identify participants of the NEXUS (air mode) pre-approved traveller program so that they can move quickly and securely across the border.
