One of the
first maps to show North America only and to include the name "Canada." The name
previously appeared on Paolo Forlanis map of the world. One can read "La Nova
Franza," "Canada pro.," "Terra Dellaborador,"
"Stadacone" (Quebec City), "Ochelaga" (Montreal), etc. on the map.
This is the first appearance of
other names, such as the Anian Strait (Bering Strait) between North America and Asia, on a
printed map.
