    The New Experts

    During the past decade, not only has a wealth of garden books been published, but a number of recognized garden writers have emerged to write on a wide range of topics of interest to the growing field of hobbyists and professional gardeners  -  writers whose opinions are valued and trusted. These are a few of them.

    One of the major writers in the field is gardener Marjorie Harris with her gardening column, books, and now as editor, with Mary Anne Brinckman, of Gardening Life (formerly Toronto Life Gardens).

    Lois Hole and her husband operate Hole's Greenhouse and Gardens Ltd., one of the largest garden centres in Alberta. Her books are packed with information and cover a wide range of topics.

    Another prolific writer in the field is Mark Cullen with a television series, videos, and books to his credit. This title is a good place to start a garden library.

    When it comes to the history of gardening in Canada, no one has done more than Ottawa writer Edwinna von Baeyer. From her online articles on landscape gardening to her many books and articles, her research is essential to anyone writing on Canadian gardening history.
