William Sallun Filho, geologist, is currently a researcher at the Geological Institute, Environmental Secretariat of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. He obtained his master degree and Ph.D. from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. His scientific interests are in the areas of Precambrian paleobiology, stromatolites, carbonate rocks and karst terrains.

Renato Ghilardi works on taphonomical and paleoautoecological aspects of Paleozoic invertebrates. He graduated from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) and obtained his Ph.D. from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Since 2002, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP-Bauru). He has published several articles on Brazilian Devonian and Permian formations.

Loreine Hermida Silva e Silva works with structures present and past stromatolitic carbonates, mainly from hypersaline lagoons. She graduated from Universidade Gama Filho (UGF) and obtained her Ph.D. from Universidade do Brasil (UFRJ). Since 2006, she has been an Associate Professor at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). She has published several articles on Brazilian stromatolites and microbial mats of the Holocene.
