Dena Smith likes dead bugs, the more dead the better.  As Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology at the Colorado University Museum, she works on the taphonomy and evolution of insects.  Dena surfed and studied at the University of California-Santa Cruz and worked with Leo Laporte and Deborah Letourneau for her bachelor's degree, followed by a PhD at University of Arizona where she worked with Karl Flessa.  She has been PE's book review editor since 2007.
