The WILU 2014 Program Committee employed a double blind selection process in which all identifying information in the proposal, including the presenters' names, institution and contact information, was excluded. Proposals were evaluated based on originality, practicality, relevance to the conference theme, and contribution to the field.
A forty-five (45) minute session grounded in formal research or applied practice, which includes a thirty (30) minute presentation and a fifteen (15) minute question/discussion period.
A five (5) minute presentation accompanied by twenty (20) slides which automatically advance every fifteen (15) seconds. Ignite Talks promote awareness of a topic and foster conversation. They can focus on anything from quick tips to big picture thinking on an issue, and can be provocative, tangential, irreverent or just plain fun. Ignite Talks are part of a growing global tradition. A 60 minutes session is dedicated to posters display to encourage one-on-one communication. Poster sessions are particularly suited for presenters at the early stages of research project, niche or very specialized topics, or topics on applied practice.
Participants of WILU 2014 will be able to attend a two-and-half (2.5) hour participatory Pre-Conference Workshop, which will be held on the morning of May 21st. Successful proposals incorporated active learning elements and participation into their workshop.
