What to tell us
If you have information about a suspected violation of any customs law, please contact the CBSA customs investigations unit nearest you.
Customs information is confidential, so please contact us in person, by phone, or by regular mail (but not by email).
You don't have to give us your name if you prefer to remain anonymous.
The CBSA will not release information about specific cases because of the confidentiality requirements of our legislation.
The following information will help us determine whether we should undertake an investigation, audit, or other action.
We realize you may not have all the suggested information. However, the more details you provide, the sooner we can take the appropriate action.

- name(s)
- related people
- contact information can include name, address, phone, email, and so on
- type of fraud or criminal activity you suspect
- smuggling
- valuation
- misdescription
- origin
- commodity, including a complete description of the product(s)
- details of your observations
- documents:
- have you seen documents?
- do you know where they're kept?
- methods of payment, such as cash, letters of credit, or wire transfers
- shipping and labelling method
- this can include port of export, transit countries, and port of entry into Canada
- your name and phone number (optional)
