Green roofs (pictured), solar technology, and eco-friendly building designs are a few of Public Works and Government Services Canada's green initiatives to help reduce their environmental footprint. Learn more.
Green Inside & Out
In support of a greener heritage, PWGSC is rehabilitating the Wellington Building in Ottawa with environmental sustainability in mind. The building will feature a green roof that will harvest rainwater to irrigate the plants, as well as five green walls that will absorb carbon dioxide, dampen noise and clean and humidify the air. Soaking Up the Sun
In support of a greener heritage, PWGSC is rehabilitating the Wellington Building in Ottawa with environmental sustainability in mind. This will be the Parliamentary Precinct Branch's first heritage building to feature solar hot water panels on the roof. These will be used to pre-heat domestic hot water. Learn more.
The Brighter Side of Wellington
In support of a greener heritage, PWGSC is rehabilitating the Wellington Building in Ottawa with environmental sustainability in mind. Once completed, the building will have a glazed atrium on the upper office floors. The atrium will channel natural daylight to improve the work environment and reduce energy consumption. Learn more.
Waste Not, Want Not
In support of a greener heritage, PWGSC is rehabilitating the Wellington Building in Ottawa with environmental sustainability in mind. A target of the construction is to reuse and recycle 80% of non-contaminated waste. To date, the project is exceeding this goal at 90%, which has significantly assisted in avoiding waste disposal at landfill sites. Learn more.
