The Ottawa region

Statistics Canada 's Head Office is located in Ottawa. The National Capital Region, which includes Ottawa and neighbouring communities in Ontario and Québec, offers its one million residents an attractive environment in which to live, as well as a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities. Canada 's national museums are here, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilization. For those who love music or the stage there is the National Arts Centre and much more; for sports fans, professional hockey and baseball teams. Festivals year-round include the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival and Winterlude. For those who love the outdoors, the National Capital Region offers four-season fun, whether you choose to cycle, roller blade, jog, walk, or cross-country ski along the more than 150 kilometres of recreational pathways in the area, or to sail, kayak, canoe or raft on the Ottawa River or the Rideau Canal. The canal also transforms into the world's longest skating rink in the winter. Winter activities also include downhill skiing at many areas within the region. For the nature lover, Gatineau Park is only one of the many spectacular areas in the region which provide access to natural beauty.

As an employee of Statistics Canada in Ottawa, you will be working at Tunney's Pasture, a campus of government offices surrounded by scenic green space about 2 kilometres west of downtown, along the Ottawa River . The campus borders a large residential area, with easy access by public transportation. There is also an abundance of nearby shops, restaurants, and riverside parks. All of these factors combine to make Tunney's Pasture an ideal work location.
