About our Society:

The Brantford Lapidary & Mineral Society was formed in March 1964. Over the years, our society has run successful workshops in the art of Silversmithing and Gold Wire work. Our focus is on minerals, fossils, crystals and semi-precious stone polishing. For a nominal fee, we offer Lapidary classes in our well equipped workshop location. Please contact a member of our executive (see 'Contact Us' below) for information about dates, times and locations of classes, fieldtrips and special events. We welcome new members any time.

Each year, on the first weekend in April, our society hosts a Gem and Mineral Show, which draws thousands of people to Paris, Ontario, where it is held. Besides being the host to one of the biggest gem and mineral shows in the province, we endeavour to obtain a special exhibit that pertains to the hobby and is of current interest to the public, especially school children. Past examples of these exhibits include the Royal Ontario Museum's Dinosaur-mobile and a Space exhibit, complete with meteorites.

The society is an active member of the of the Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies, and participates in their field trips, workshops, and other activities.
