About our Society:

The Sudbury Rock and Lapidary Society was formed in November 1984. It was incorporated in July, 1991, and currently has about 50 active members including amateurs, hobbyists and professionals. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in rocks, minerals, gems, fossils, lapidary or jewelry making. The Society is dedicated to promoting these collective hobbies for recreational, educational and general interest purposes. Officers of the Society are elected for a one year term with no remuneration for their volunteer work. We are a non-profit organization.

Regular Monthly Meetings are held each month from September through June at the Naughton Community Centre (Old Naughton Public School). A short business meeting and a break with refreshments are followed by a speaker or film, displays or demonstrations, discussions, and a draw for a door prize. Guests are always welcome, so please join us at our next meeting!

Included with the Society dues is enrollment in the Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CCFMS), which entitles members to the CCFMS Newsletter and annual Membership Directory covering the memberships of over 20 member clubs in Ontario and Quebec. It also provides members with insurance coverage during Society field trips.
