Household Love

by Eben Hensby

The Candy-Bar Wrapper Dress:

You peel out of your candy-bar wrapper,
XXXXXXXXXand I eat you up.

The chocolate running through my fingers,
dripping from my chin,
flowing down my throat.

I am a sugar junkie.

Alberto Hair Gel:

Mash me into a bottle of hair gel
by Alberto.

SXXXqXXXuXXXeXXXeXXeXXeXeXeXeXeeeeeeeze the bottle
and allow a sminch of hair gel
to flow into your palm.

Rub me into your follicles,
massage me into your scalp,
allow me to translude into your hair.

Let sit for a few minutes, style as desired,
XXXand repeat.

Brush Strokes:

Paint me as I paint you:
XXXn a k e d
where every inch is defining,
and every brush stroke is essential,
capturing and leading the eye
through valleys and mountains
and playgrounds
where little kids used to
venture and roam to escape
it all.

Mint Bubble Gum:

I savour your taste
like mint bubble gum.
A tundra in my mouth.

I savour your taste
like magnolia perfume.
An arboretum in my palm.

I savour your taste,
put it into a wrapper,
put it into a bottle,
save it for the lonesome nights.

Eben Hensby writes: "I currently am in grade 12 at Moscrop Secondary School in Burnaby, BC. I have been writing poems for four years now, but only seriously for one. I am an aspiring poet, trying to build up a publishing history and to get a book published. I have previously had some of my work published in IN 2 PRINT magazine, I've won an essay contest on Leonardo da Vinci, I won the Burnaby Writing contest twice (once with a french poem and once with a short story), and I've received several certificates from my school for Excellence In Writing."
