The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has six regional offices with staff in 16 locations across the country. In the north, Agency programs are delivered through Health Canada's Northern Region. The Office of the Director General, Regions, was established to provide focus, direction, and coordination to these regional operations.
Regional offices administer eight federal funding programs and coordinate efforts to plan for and respond to public health emergencies. They also facilitate collaboration on national priorities, support research, and build on the resources that exist at regional, provincial, and health district levels. By working in partnerships that cross governments, sectors, and jurisdictions, regional offices promote integrated action on public health. This Canada-wide infrastructure enables the Agency to be a champion and catalyst for public and population health, towards an integrated, nation-wide public health system.
Regional Web sites provide easy access to current PHAC activities and resources across the country.
