About the National Clearinghouse

The National Clearinghouse on Family Violence (NCFV) is a one-stop source for information for professionals working on violence and abuse within the family. It operates on behalf of the 15 partner departments, agencies and Crown corporations of the federal Family Violence Initiative.

The NCFV collects and develops resources on prevention, protection and treatment. Resources are available online free of charge, in English and French, and in alternative formats upon request.

By increasing awareness, the NCFV encourages Canadian communities to become involved in reducing the occurrence of family violence.

The NCFV does not provide social services, legal advice or counselling support. If you are experiencing abuse or neglect, or know someone who is, please visit our FIND SUPPORT page for information on where to seek assistance in your community - such as distress lines, child welfare services, shelters, sexual assault centres, family resource centres and emergency services.
