Nosocomial and Occupational Infections
About the Nosocomial Infection Control Guideline Program
Representing over ten years of evidence collection and collated
specialists’ advice, and summarizing the latest scientific
evidence, the Public Health Agency of Canada publishes a series of
Infection Control Guidelines as a supplement to the Canada
Communicable Disease Report. Theses guidelines have proven to be an
invaluable resource.
Prior to being published all Infection Control Guidelines are
reviewed by the Steering Committee. This committee is a national
and multi-disciplinary committee, whose mandate is to provide the
Public Health Agency of Canada with timely infection control and
healthcare infection epidemiologic advice on current and emerging

healthcare practices and/or equipment.

re-emerging infectious diseases.
- Ethical and clinical issues which may impact on the application
of recommendations contained in the Infection Control
Guideline.

carry out its mandate by:
