[2010-10-01] : Celebrating International Day of Older Persons

In 2011, the leading edge of the Baby Boom generation will turn 65.

By 2016, seniors will begin to outnumber children under 14 in Canada.  By 2050, the country’s older adult population will rise to 27%.  Seniors make vital contributions to their families and society.  One in four seniors is a family caregiver. As volunteers, they donate more hours than any other age group.  International Day of Older Persons provides a great opportunity to celebrate seniors—one of Canada’s last growing natural resources.
