NRC-CISTI on Facebook

Ottawa, ON, March 23, 2009 – In an effort to generate awareness about the products and services offered by NRC Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (NRC-CISTI), NRC-CISTI is now on Facebook.

With over 175 million members, the well-known social media website is just one of the tools that NRC-CISTI is using to tell our story to a wider audience. One such tool is our website, which has just been renewed and redesigned as part of a larger government-wide process. The redesigned web is easier for people to navigate, especially those with disabilities, ensuring that our users' experience on our website is more enjoyable.

Another tool that NRC-CISTI uses to generate awareness of what our researchers can develop is CISTI Lab. An experimental site for demonstrating and evaluating web-based experimental applications for science libraries, CISTI Lab is also used for new innovations and approaches to electronic publishing. It is a place for NRC-CISTI to demonstrate prototypes, collaborate with researchers within NRC as well as universities, libraries, publishers, and the private sector, and to obtain feedback from early adopters.
