About us

The ATIP Office is the focal point for the application of the Act in the Department. It reports to the Director General, Administration Directorate and is headed by the Departmental Coordinator for both the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. The Office includes its own legal counsel, ATIP Advisors and administrative support personnel.The ATIP Office, together with other responsibility centres, is also involved in policy matters related to the implementation of both the Access to Information and Privacy Acts within the Department of Justice.The Office deals directly with the public in connection with ATIP requests and serves as the centre of ATIP expertise in enabling the Department to meet its statutory obligations under the Act.
