About the ICC

How it Relates to Youth

Around the world, children are often victims of crimes that will fall under the court's jurisdiction, such as enslavement and sexual violence.

On the issue of child soldiers, the court recognizes the recruitment of children under the age of fifteen years into the national armed forces as a war crime and its perpetrators will be prosecuted accordingly. Please see the Child Soldiers Lesson Plan in the 'Teaching Resources' section of this Campaign Toolkit for further information and resources.

The Rome Statute specifically includes violations of the human rights of children. Please see the Lesson Plan on the ICC and Children in the 'Teaching Resources' section of this Campaign Toolkit!
