Team Profiles

Paul Bernhardt was a powerful force on the digitization team for this project. With a strong background and interest in information technology, Paul proved to be very knowledgeable in this field. His excellence in this area enable him to assist other team members in improving their skills.

Mark Brimson was a valuable member of the digitization team. His ability to learn new skills quickly and his afinity for technology were great assets. He worked well with the team and is now considering pursuing a career in website creation.

Aubrey Charette is currently the Communications Officer at War Child Canada. She is responsible for maintaining and expanding War Child Canada's relationship with the media, and overseeing external communications. She also manages volunteer coordination. Aubrey recently graduated from Oxford University, with a Bachelors Degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Prior to this, she worked as the assistant to the speechwriter in Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy's office for one year.

Leanna Eaton is currently working with War Child Canada as the Youth Programs Manager, supervising national youth programs focused on raising awareness and involving youth in international humanitarian issues. A graduate from the Education program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Leanna has also completed a Masters of Arts in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education. She has collaborated with youth and teachers on numerous projects throughout Canada and recently returned from an internship researching citizenship education in Berlin. Leanna is looking forward to building and maintaining already established relationships between War Child Canada and Canadian schools and community groups.

Nils Engelstad is an account executive at a Toronto-based marketing agency that specializes in social issues. He has a degree in international relations and political science from the University of Toronto.

Michael Lawson was critical to the development of this site sitting as Project Manager for digitization. With a strong background in information technology, he was responsible for making sure the team was functioning properly and all digitization was done seamlessly.

Michael Maletin is co-Founder and Executive Producer of Cool Blue Media Inc. An internet professional for 5 years, he has provided the digitization team with technical advice as well as advice on professionalism. Mike has been working with War Child Canada, donating his time and services, for three years.

Dr. Samantha Nutt is the co-Founder and Executive Director of War Child Canada. A medical doctor with nearly ten years of experience working in war zones, Sam has provided humanitarian support to war-affected children in areas that include Liberia, Somalia, Burundi, Iraq, Thai-Burma and Sierra Leone. Sam holds a Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University, a Master of Science in Public Health in Developing Countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, as well as post-graduate medical degrees from the Canadian College of Family Practice and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. As Executive Director of War Child Canada, Sam works on the overall direction, management and creative vision of War Child Canada's projects and programs. Sam continues to inspire youth nationally by going to speak at schools, universities and youth-driven conferences.

Stephany Schooley was a dedicated and valued team member on this project. Though she initially had a limited knowledge of website technology and digitization, she quickly grasped new concepts with eagerness and a positive attitude. She now possesses skills in photo retouching, colour correction, composition and digitization standards.

Jessica So was the youngest memeber of our digitization team. She was very enthusiastic and played a significant role in the completion of the project. Jessica worked well in a team environment and vastly improved her knowledge of website creation. She plans to pursue studies in marketing.

Aarthi Vig is currently working as the Youth Programs Officer at War Child Canada. As a recent graduate from the education program at the University of Toronto, she has a passion for working with youth using alternative education methods. Aarthi has a degree in English and Politics from the University of Toronto.
