Begin with a review of Emily Carr and her artwork. Use The Picture Gallery to review with students the following questions:
- Ask the students, "Who is Emily Carr, and what does her artwork look like?"
Emily Carr loved to walk around her neighbourhood. Have the students walk around the neighbourhood and map out the places they visit, a friends house, the store, your school, etc., Using the model of the Neighbourhood Walk have students map out their neighbourhood.
- Ask the children to discuss where they go in their neighbourhood.
- Ask the students to approximate and map out the streets, buildings, shops, parks, beaches, etc., in their neighbourhood and add the appropriate labels and colour.
