At age five Albertine Morin began studying piano and gave her first recital two years later. In 1901 she began studies in harmony and composition, while simultaneously embarking on a series of recitals in Canada and the U.S.A. She moved to Paris to complete her composition and vocal training. Before her return to Montreal around 1920 she performed in concert in Paris, Brussels and New York. From 1922-1951 she taught at the University of Montreal. She wrote a number of piano studies, including L'Art d'étudier le piano (The Art of Piano Study), published in 1922. Her other writings include short essays on European composers, which were published around the Montreal area in the 1940s.

Among Morin-Labrecque's works are three operas, four ballets, two concertos for two pianos and works for orchestra or band, instrumental ensemble, piano, piano duet, organ, choir and voice. In 1984 a square and a street in Montreal were named after her.
