Community Access
York Landing is accessible by air all 12 months of the year. The communities' airstrip is a 2840 X 85 foot gravel strip with lights maintained by the Department of Northern Affairs. The airport property consist of four equipment warehouses, gravel stock, and fuel storage tanks.

Seven days a week Skyward Aviation provides scheduled air services from Thompson. They also provide chartered air services and medevacs for the community of York Landing.

The MV Joe Keeper which is a ferry that is serviced and provided by Northern Airports and Marine Operations can accommodate up to 16 vehicles and operates between June to October from York Landing to Split Lake.

From mid-January to March a winter road provides vehicle transportation between Ilford, York Landing, and Split Lake. The road enables the community to have access to Highway 280 from the community of Split Lake.

In York Landing The main forms of transportation are cars, trucks, bikes, ATV's and snowmobiles. Motor boats are also used to get to the neighboring community of Split Lake for access Highway 280 to Thompson and Gillam.

Services

Communication/Media Services
CHYL 93.5 FM radio station Courtesy of Project Team
York Landings Communication and Media services are made up of a local Satellite TV System and Radio Station. The TV system consists of 12 channels, one channel being a community channel. This channel broadcasts events and other special services essential for York Landing.

CHYL 93.5 FM is a local community radio station with a broadcast range of about 10 to 15 miles. Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) broadcasts from Winnipeg which can be heard on local channel 10. The CBC Broadcast is sent by a microwave tower located 14 miles east of the community.

Medical Services

The reserve has a Health Station operated by Health and Welfare. The staff of the Health Station consists of two CHRs, two nurses, a part-time clerk, part-time custodian, part-time house keeper and a security guard. All other services required are provided by First Nation & Inuit Health Services out of Winnipeg or Thompson.

A visiting General Practitioner (GP) visits the reserve every two weeks and stays for approximately two days. A dentist comes in once a month and stays for one week at a time. Pediatric services are provided every three months. Referral services are standard occurrence for any small community such as York Landing.

Postal Services
York Landing's postal services are offered by Canada Post located at the local store. On a part-time basis the postal service employs one person five days a week. Skyward Aviation delivers mail from Thompson on a contract basis with Canada Post.

Telephone Services
Telephone services are provided to York Landing by Manitoba Telephone System (MTS) through single-party lines. MTS also provides other special communication services such as Internet. The Internet at present is only dial-up.

Volunteer Services
Volunteer Services are made up of the following outfits:
- Crisis Response Team
- First Responders
- Local Fire Department
- Search and Rescue
