The Foothills Fescue Wildlife

Richardson's Ground SquirrelThe fauna of the Foothills Fescue Subregion is not as extensive as the other Subregions of the Grassland Natural Region. Upland wildlife is most diverse on the extensive plateaus of the Cypress Hills and the Milk River Ridge.

Wildlife in the forests and shrublands of the southwestern rivers is similar to that of the Milk River in the Mixedgrass Subregion. Along the western edge of the Foothills Fescue Subregion, some Rocky Mountain species occur.
