Ten sets of regenerators and three sets of channeling apparatus. Positions for one overland cable circuit, and four Morse Duplexes are also provided. These together with switch boards and jack panels occupy the space provided by this room.


The total number employed by the Company on the Station is usually about 75 consisting of:

The work in the office being continuous throughout 24 hours, the operating staff is divided into three sections, each section performing eight hours duty daily and rotating weekly. Each section is in charge of a Supervisor, who has with him an office electrician and an assistant, the whole being under the direction and control of the Superintendent and his Assistant.

In addition, the Superintendent has the direction and supervision of outdoor operations, the upkeep and maintenance of all houses and property, the maintenance of underground lines, Cable huts and landings; in fact everything in connection with the Station generally. With the Assistant Superintendent, he has to attend to all in connection with cable balances, signal adjustments and other matters which are connected with the efficient working of the cables, and as Sundays and holidays are the only periods when lines are available, these days are devoted to a general tuning up of every unit.
