FIND THE MEASURED DRAWING SITES ON A MAP OF BRITISH COLUMBIA Learning Outcomes

In this activity we are going to find the Measured Drawing Sites on a map of British Columbia. By studying the various sites you will discover where they are located.

Part of your project will be to look carefully at the location map and the index. The Location Map will show you where the Measured Drawing Sites are located. The Index will show you what the icons look like. You will match the building icons you cut out with their corresponding place on the map of British Columbia.

1.) Print out the map of British Columbia. Each diamond shape on the map shows the location of a Measured Drawing Site.

The map needs to be bigger. Make larger Xerox copies of the map and join them together. Trace the joined pieces on a bigger sheet of paper. Your teacher will help you make the Xerox copies.

2.) Print out the buildings icons. Look back at the Index to identify the buldings.

3.) Look at the Location Map to see where the building icons should be glued onto the map. Cut out the building icons and glue them onto the right place on the map.

4.) Take your site map home and hang it up in your room!

CLASS ACTIVITY:

As a class talk about the activities that took place in the buildings when they were built. What did people do for a living in those days? How have occupations changed between then and now?
