HOSTING CONCERT
by JEANE MANNING
Courier Staff

To see the upbeat musical Spirit of a Nation, you'll have to drive to Oliver tonight.
The Canada 125 celebration show will be at the arena in Oliver's recreation complex at 7:30 p.m. tonight. This will be the only performance in the valley. Experience Canada is the touring group which has taken the show across Canada during the past four months, as well as to Canada Day on Parliament Hill and the Governor General's summer concert series.

Co producer Jacques Lemay has choreographed events such as the opening ceremonies for Calgary Winter Olympics, 1989 and 1991 Canada Games, and royalty visits. He and his wife Janis Dunning collaborated on other ethno-cultural projects as well, "but never have we encountered such a high calibre of talent," says Lemay.

Dunning is a singer/dancer/actress and executive director of Canadian Heritage Arts Society,
known for her Saturday morning CTV show, The Rockets as well as the ballets she writes.
She created Spirit of a Nation as an "exhilarating way to inspire Canadians to better understand
one another".

A cross section of young Canadians were selected to be in the troupe and act as 125 ambassadors for their regions.

Barbara Durose of Kelowna and 22 other B.C. performers were chosen in a national talent search in February.

To find the site of the performance while approaching Oliver from the north, go east at the first stop light, cross the bridge, and turn right into the recreation complex.

Tickets are available at Oliver recreation office, the Briar Shoppe and Oliver Chamber of
Commerce – adults, $5; under 18, $2.50; children under age four, free; and families, $20.
