9 Beyond the corner store, 1954

Facts - Television on P.E.I.

It's exciting to go to a school with boys and college students, but the work is much harder, too. At least I don't have to wear a uniform to school anymore!

I haven't decided whether or not I want to move away and live in the convent next year. On one hand, it's nice to finally have the house to myself since all of my brothers have left home. On the other hand, it'll also be nice to be on my own for a while. I'll still be working in the store, so I'll see enough of my parents anyway.

Mom and Dad are starting to worry about boys, but so far, they don't have much to worry about. The boys my age who hang around and play baseball in the park act so young, but the college students at school walk past grade 11 girls as if we don't exist. I don't have a lot of time for boys right now anyway, between studying, working at the store, and babysitting my nieces and nephews.

I'm going to spend more time at my brother Jim's house once exams are over. He just bought a new television set! He's trying to convince Mom and Dad to get one, too but they think it's just a passing fad.
