The usual major subdivision of a family or subfamily into the classification of plants and animals, usually consisting of more than one species.

geothermal:
A form of electricity generation involving heating up water using hot spots in the Earth's crust.

geranium:
(genus: Geranium or Pelargonium) Cultivated plant having showy, usually red, flowers, and/or fragrant leaves.

germination:
To develop from a seed, bulb, spore, or the like into a plant or individual.

ginger:
(genus: Zingiber, particularly Zingiber officinale) A plant having a large, spicy root, used in cooking and herbal remedies.

ginkgo:
(Ginkgo biloba) A large tree, native to China, with fan-shaped leaves, fleshy fruit, and edible nuts.

ginseng:
Panax ginseng or Panax quinquefolium. A plant with an aromatic root used in Chinese herbal remedies.

glandular tissue:
Tissue that produces a substance in a living creature.

glycol:
(Glycerin alcohol, ethylene glycol, ethylene alcohol: CH2OHCH2OH) Colourless, sweet alcohol, used as an antifreeze and a solvent. Poisonous, much more than ethanol.

goldenrod:
(genus: Solidago) Plant with many small, yellow flowers.

goldenseal:
(Hydrastis canadensis) Plant related to the buttercup, with a thick, yellow root used in folk medicine.

gram:
A metric unit of mass, equal to 15.432 grains.

guanine:
One of four nucleotides which are the primary building blocks for DNA.
