Governor General Awards

Pierre Ouvrard has been commissioned to create bindings for the Governor General's Literary Award winners since 1973. M. Ouvrard reads each book seeking inspiration for a design which reflects and enhances the author's creative vision. Each book is bound in full leather and decorated with a variety of finishing techniques, including leather inlays or onlays, and gold or blind tooled decorative enhancements. The inner covers, not pictured on this site, are finished with handmade marbled endpapers, and each book is issued in a protective handmade case. His leather bound editions - along with a cash prize of $10,000 - are presented annually to the winners of this award.
