General description
Functions minimally in oral interchange within a clear, predictable context related to immediate needs.
Understands only a small number of words and simple learned phrases, responds with yes/no or in isolated words or strings of two or three words.
Makes long pauses, often repeats the other person's words.
Depends on gestures.
May use first language at times.
Needs assistance.
