Ore Cars

Ore cars were an integral piece of equipment in the coal mining operations. To haul coal Nicholas Sheran used wooden crates, which were pulled or pushed on skids. Later, rail ore cars were pulled through the mine by mules or horses, which increased efficiency and reduced the physical hardship of the miners. On average, these horse-pulled cars could carry about one tonne of coal each.
