Ti-jardin

Ti-jardin

Ti -jardin is a French Newfoundland musical duo which plays traditional French music. Jack Cormier plays the accordion and brother Mark Cormier plays the guitar and does vocals.

Jack has played the accordion since the age of 9, entertaining at numerous family events. Each year he takes part in festivals such as Une longue veillée, Une journée dans le passé and Un plaisir du bon vieux temps. Jack is known not just for his talent but for his love of music manifested in the joy with which he plays.

Mark started playing the guitar at age fifteen in a family where music was a part of life. He started composing at age 25. His songs speak passionately of a way of life which no longer exists and of memories which he holds dear.

Ti-Jardin was formed in 1997. It is one of the very few groups in Newfoundland which play and sing French music. The group released its first CD entitled "Journées du passé" in July 1997.

Since the release of its CD, Ti-jardin has had a number of exciting engagements including participation in the Cabot 500 Celebrations and the 1999 Winter Games. A life-long dream was realized in July 1998 when the group spent 15 days in France performing at the festival Chants des marins in the city of Saint-Jilles-Croix-de-vie. In June 1999 the duo performed at a marine festival in Mystic Seaport in Boston. The two musicians were also featured on Radio-Canada's programme Trajectoire in november 1998.
